Brushless outrunner motor specs

I have a couple brushless motors and being new to this, I wanted to know what the first numbers mean? I have a 2808-660 motor. I assume the 660 means KV, but what does the 2808 mean?

the first set of numbers refers to the motor diameter and motor height. Here are 2 good references:

Unfortunately there are no "standards" in motor numbers so you have to be careful.

Some manufacturers use the outside diameter other use the diameter of the rotor inside.

Just to make it a bit more complex other wise identical motors can have different kVs.

It is much safer to simply treat them as 'model numbers' and use the manufacturers detailed motor specification which should give its physical dimensions, kV, maximum current, the shaft diam etc.
