(seattle, wa )

so i just bought a super cub rc airplane, and as soon as i plug the battery in the motor goes on full bore, would this be a bad receiver?

i always make sure the transmitter is on and the throttle is off, i plugged it in and held onto it with the motor full bore, i tried the rudders and nothing, it was like it wasnt getting any signal from the transmitter, what else can i do to test?

Full throttle
by: Jeff

I also had this problem after it got caught in a tree and stalled the prop while it was still flat out. It ended up melting a transistor inside the reciever which I have put the problem down to. Unfortunately i am having difficulty finding a replacement transistor.

I solved the same problem by reversing the throttle channel

Busted Receiver

I had the same problem but all other controls worked fine. Apparently the ESC portion of the circuitry had somehow shorted out and the prop is always at full throttle. I looked inside but don't think I can find the part to replace the ESC outputs. I am planning to get a replecement receiver, probably from eBay. Good luck with your problem.

If you check inside the receiver (you should be able to just pop it open with the tab on the side) Have a look a the battery wires going into the receiver. Look at the black wire, and notice that it goes into the board right beside the black wire going to the motor.

Look on the other side of the board and check to see if the solder points got fused together somehow. They must be separate.

You can check this easily by taking a meter to check for a short. If the solder is joining the two, then take a knife, separate them and clean it out.

Full bore motor problem

I've had this problem myself when I used a receiver I bought on e-bay. You have to go into your radio programming and reverse the throttle.

I'm using a Futaba 7C radio but it's the same procedure as reversing a servo in your radio. My radio calls it throttle (it's abbreviated) but that's what it is.

The first time I tested the receiver on my airplane I had the throttle stick all the way back but it instantly went to full throttle and there was not beeps to warn that the motor was armed. Fortunately the plane was in a cradle but even then I had to react in a flash. :)

I don't think your receiver is bad you just need to reverse that throttle in the radio.

sounds like bad ESC to me...

Hi Kyle,

That is definitely strange. Most all ESC require you to arm the ESC before the motor will come on.

Usually you just put the throttle to neutral and you will hear a series of beeps while the ESC arms.

Some ESC's require that you go from neutral to full throttle and back to neutral. In any case, the motor should NOT start running until the ESC is armed for obvious safety reasons.

Do you hear the ESC arming? Beeps or anything?

If not, I'd say your receiver is bad.

Did you get the RTF version with the ParkZone radio? Or the BNF version?
