what plane do you have?
by: Matt

Hi Chris,

I guess my first question is, why are you looking for something bigger than what is recommended?

As far as the Rimfire 42-40-1000, it is an outrunner motor with can diameter of 42mm, length of 40mm and KV of 1000.

When choosing an electric motor the power the motor draws and the KV rating are the main two things you need to look at. Then of course you need to look at the dimensions and weight of the motor.

Check out this page for more info:
Sizing an electric motor

This page has some good info about Brushless motors in general. Innrunner vs outrunner etc.
Brushless Motors for RC Airplanes

I hope this helps.

Which plane to you have? I have the SU 31, the small version. That plane is a lot of fun!
