Smoke system on a.40 trainer

by Jeff Lukin

Hello fellow r/c pilots!

I don't really have any engine problems right now,but I would like to put a smoke system on my Tower trainer .40.I am wondering if anyone has done this before.I would like to know if this is worth doing.

Thanks in advance for any help on this subject!

Not worth the trouble

40 size planes aren't really cut out for smoke systems. It takes a good amount of heat to make decent smoke and this is difficult to achieve with a small 2 stroke.

The weight of a smoke system is also a lot for a 40 size system.

If you notice, most smokers are large 4-stroke and most gasoline engines.

You can buy disposable smoke cartridges to strap on the bottom of small planes. Not a very economic solution if you want smoke on every flight. I don't believe you have any control over toggling it on or off either.
