Actual Rumpler Wing Section The Section I Used

Hi Trev,

Seems I owe you an apology, I missed your question about the wing section and angles....Sorry.

As you will see from the drawings attached, The actual wing section was very shallow which would have made mounting the wing servos difficult. I opted for a thicker section as used on the Albatross.

This has proved successful and the additional depth makes construction easier and actually somewhat stronger.

The servos are in the lower wing near to the wing root. They employ a push rod connection running in plastic tube bushes at each wing rib out to a 90 degree crank fixed to a ply plate just inboard of the outer struts.

A further push rod connects to a push/pull crank mounted vertically on a reinforcement plate glued to the rib directly under the hinge line and push/pull crank of the aileron in the upper wing. The two cranks are connected using closed loop wires.

I hope this helps. Sounds a bit complicated but is in fact relatively simple and works very well.

The wings are set at 4 degrees positive incidence whilst the tailplane is set at -2 degrees negative incidence. I also opted for about 2 degrees motor down thrust.

Good luck with your build. 1/5th scale will produce a large model. Post some pictures for us to see.
