ParkZone P-51D Mustang fans finally got what they've been asking for. The 480 brushless motor powered by a 1300mAh LiPo battery are not the only improvements that ParkZone has made over the original ParkZone Mustang. Aside for being nearly the same size and similar airframe, the ParkZone P-51D BL is a complete new bird from the ground up, and ParkZone fans are loving it!

Improvements to Airplane

By looking at the details and texture in the above image it's really hard to believe this airplane is made from foam. In my personal opinion, this is the sharpest looking bird ParkZone has ever came out with!

Its durable and lightweight Z-Foam™ construction not only makes it much stronger, but much easier to repair after mishaps. Unlike most foams, you can use CA glue with Z-Foam™. I have found that Gorilla Glue also works very well for making repairs on Z-Foam™ as well.

Unlike the previous version, the battery is very easily accessible. All you have to do is pop the canopy off which is held in place by a strong magnet. Viola, there's your battery, servo's and electronics!

In order to handle the increased loads on the ailerons from the massive amount of power, this new version has dual ailerons servos. Not only does this make the airplane respond much crisper to aileron input, it also allows you the ability to use the ailerons as flaps. Provided you have a programmable radio with flapperon mix.

The ParkZone Brushless Mustang BL BNF is a Bind-N-Fly (BNF) version. This means you can bind your existing DSM2 Spektrum or JR radio with the onboard AR500 receiver.

If you don't have a DSM2 radio, the Spektrum DX6i is highly recommended by ParkZone. I personally have this radio and can vouch for its quality. Spektrum's DX6i a great radio with tons of features.

The pushrod and hardware required to make the rudder functional is included with the BNF version. All you have to do is purchase and extra servo to have full 3-axis control of your new fighter!

Both versions of the ParkZone P-51 Mustang BL come with everything needed to fly including a 3-cell LiPo balancing charger.

Brief History of the P-51 Mustang

This American fighter is one of the most recognized warbirds of all time. This single-seater P-51 Mustang was designed to escort allied bombers deep into enemy territory during WW2. This bird was extremely maneuverable and could fly much farther and faster with more ammunitions than previous escort fighters of the era. The P-51 changed the course of WWII by escorting allied bombers much deeper into enemy territory than was ever possible before!

The color scheme and decals of the ParkZone P-51D Mustang are an exact match to that of the "Gunfighter", a fully restored P-51 Mustang frequently seen at air shows across the country.
