Need a little more info
by: Matt

Hello Kazmi,

Man, don't you hate dead stick landings over and over? It's terrible...

In order to help figure out whats wrong with your engine I need a little more info.

There are many things that could be causing your engine to quite. It could be too lean, too rich, or it could be a problem with the fuel line clunker, or fuel tubing.

In rare cases there could actually be something wrong with the carburetor not sealing correctly. Or it's possible it something wrong with one of the components of the engine.

In order to troubleshoot we need to narrow it down a bit. In order to do that we need to know exactly when the engine quits.

Does it quit when you go from idle to full throttle? Or does it quit when the engine is idling?

What happens if you have a friend hold your plane with the nose in the air while you go from idle to full throttle quickly. Does it die right away? Does it stutter and stumble then run OK? Or does it run perfectly fine?

I'd also recommend you read through the tuning page on this site.

Please take the time to perform a pinch test. This will also give you an idea if the engine is too rich or too lean.

If you determine that your engine is either too rich or too lean, adjust it accordingly and see if this solves the problem.

Please let me know what you find out.

Good Luck!

That's not good...
by: Matt

Kazmi,

I'm sorry to hear that your engine is still giving you troubles.

It is difficult to help you determine the problem without more detailed information. It is much like calling a doctor to heal you when all you tell him is that you are sick.

I really want to help you fix your problem because I know how frustrating it can be when you want to fly, and your engine keeps quitting.

Like a doctor, I need to see more details of the symptoms your engine is displaying.

I will ask again some of the same questions.

What exactly happens when you do the pinch test? Does RPM's rise before engine dies? Or does it quite immediately?

Please give me some more details of how the engine behaves when it is running on the ground and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

Another suggestion is to find someone in your area that could help you hands on.

Please see the list on this page for RC airplane clubs in your area.

hi matt,kazmi here again.
i want to provide you some more information about my engine.
i performed all actions at ground as per you advise.i did not found any problem.pinch test was also perfect, but during the flight i saw that i pull down the throtul stick untill 50% and engine cut down.but at 80%90% throtul, the engine was perfect.

Hmm, maybe low speed?
by: Matt

Hi Kazmi,

So you are telling me that the engine runs OK at nearly full throttle, but the engine quits when lower the throttle no near 50%?

Does it seem to happen the same way each time?

This is still a tricky one to diagnose. But it sounds like the issue could be the low speed needle too lean.

Try increasing the low speed need until the airplane Almost starts to move forward on the ground at zero throttle.

Keep in mind that you may have to readjust the high speed after tweaking the low speed.

This is kind of a trial and error process. Try that and let me know if it helps.

Engines
by: Matt

Hi Kazmi,

There have been many of good people help me when I have questions. The least I can do is to help others when I have the chance. I am glad you appreciate my responses.

Super Tiger is a very reputable company. Do you know what size and model it is?

Here is their product page, can you find it here?

To be really honest with you, I haven't had any personal experience with GMS engines. However, I found this thread that you may like to read to help you make your decision.

Hope this helps!

right glow plug?
by: Matt

Wow Kazmi,

You are not having much good luck with that engine! Is this the same engine, or a new one you bought?

Did you check the engine manual to make sure you are using the correct glow plug?

Again, I would double check the pinch test to make sure that your engine is not too rich.

How far does your friend live that you called on the phone? Could you take the plane to his house and let him help you hands on?
