Os 50 engine only starts at half throttle.

The engine only kicks into life when the the throttle is at least half open. Lowering the throttle and the engine dies.

Try the pinch test and adjust high end first

The first step is to make sure the high speed is set correctly by using the pinch test.

Once you get the high end set, then start adjusting the low end. I would start off with the factory settings on the low end then adjust very small amounts as needed.

It could be that the low end is too lean. Or maybe the high end is too rich. Or maybe both.

But I would worry about getting the high end slightly rich at full throttle. It may solve the problem, or you may have to adjust the low end.

Or, with these crazy engines it could turn out to be something crazy like an issue with the fuel line, clunk, tank etc...

But always start with adjusting the high end, then the low end. If you can't get it worked out then you have to look further.

The engine is a year old and I have a new plug placed, should I lean the idle needle do you think.

Is this a brand new engine? Or has it already been broken in.

First you need to try the pinch test to see if it is too rich. Sounds like it may be too rich. You may also want to try replacing the plug.

I would start with those basic steps first and go from there.
