O.S. 46 Low Speed Needle Setting

I have over Tinkered...!!

I Have an OS 46 Engine. Being new to glow flying, I don't know what is a good starting point for the Low speed..

As a result I have now got an engine that will not start at all. What is a good starting point for tuning(How many turns) the low speed needle. The engine is an OS 46.

Hello,

Here is the manual for the O.S. LA Series in case you don't have the manual.

On page 15 there is a block diagram that you can follow for setting the low speed needles. It's the same chart that's in manual for the AX series in case that's what you have.

The low speed needle setting shouldn't keep the engine from starting. The low speed needle really only takes effect when the throttle is nearly closed. You should have the throttle open about 1/3 of the way when trying to start the engine.

How was it acting the last time it ran?

If it won't even fire it is a possibility that you have a bad glow plug or your glow igniter doesn't have enough voltage to get the plug hot.

A good way to check is to remove the plug and briefly attach it to the ignitor see if it gets hot, be careful not to burn your self.

Some more information on how your engine is acting will help us figure out what's going on.

Matt
