Bit more prime?
by: Michael from Oz

G'day

Glow engines seem to need a bit more prime to start hot. If you use an electric starter, it turns the engine fast enough to suck fuel through but a flip does not. The simplest way (if you can get at the carby easily) is to choke the inlet with your finger (if it is hot something is probably wrong) and turn it over until it is at the top of the compression stroke then remove the finger and keep turning the rest of the stroke. If you leave the finger there for the whole stroke, it just blows the fuel back on the part of the stroke after compression.

Frankly, electric starters don't cost all that much and you will be better off getting one eventually.

Mike
