nitro engine runs for 1/3 - 1/2 tank fuel then stalls

Hello all,

My engine will run for about a 1/3 of fuel then leans out and stalls.

I've got the valves set right. It runs really good till it starts to lean out.

If I have the plane on the ground and back out the high speed needle out a touch it it will continue to run fine. At about half a tank the same thing happens.

Thanks

That didn't help huh?

Did you make sure the fuel tubing in the tank is free of holes?

Does it start to act up a exactly the same tank level each time? Could be a pin hole in the fuel tubing.

If it runs fine, then all the sudden it starts to get lean when the level goes down, then it seems like it must be related to what's going on in the tank.

Once it starts acting up, what happens if you don't touch the needle, but just shut it off and fill the tank. Will it run correctly once the tank is full?

It's a k&b .20 2 stroke. I just fixed the clunk and replaced the pressure tubing to the muffler. I'll double check the tubing. Any other suggestions?

May be the clunk...

What kind of engine do you have? Two stroke or four stroke?

The first thing that comes to mind is to make sure the tank pressurization hose from the exhaust to the tank is install properly with good tubing...

I would also check the clunk to make sure it is free to flop around. I've had the clunk get flung forward on hard landings before and get stuck there. And I had similar problems.
