Nitro engine heats up and stops on a rich setting

I have a New Testors 40 series 21 engine.
I am trying to break it in, using 10% nitro 20% castor.

Needle set to what the instructions say 5 turns out. Engine starts fast, appears to be rich due to sound and exhaust smoke, runs about 10 sec. gets very warm and stops.

After it stops engine feels tight but can touched by hand.

Any suggestions welcomed.

That's a tuff one Chuck,

Have you tried the pinch test to verify that it is indeed running rich? From what you've described it sure sounds like it's lean.

What happens if you turn the high speed out even more? You can't hurt an engine by running it too rich, so it doesn't hurt to richen it up a little to see what happens.
