K&B 40 engine won't idle more than 5 seconds

by harvey goehring

i have a K&B 40 with a 10-6 prop.

When I lower the rpms low enough to not allow the plane to move on hard ground it dies in 5 seconds.

If I raise the rpms slightly it stays running, however while flying I then can't reduce the air speed to a proper landing speed. This makes landing even more difficult.

I have spent tanks of fuel adjusting and tuning this nitro engine and cant seem to make it run properly.

What should I do?

G'day

We need to know a bit more about your engine.

1. Air bleed or double needle carby? (is there a little hole in the front partly blocked by a screw or are there two needles to adjust - one with your fingers and one with a small screw driver)

2. Fuel type and AGE.

3. Age of the engine. Is it new our of the box or have you used it before or broken it in. How many hours has it run?

4. What glow plug and how old is it?

Knowing these things will help us to help you.

Mike
