Kadet Senior landing gear

I have modified my Kadet Senior for electric power. It flies great!

However ,with my 14/8 prop I frequently cut grass when the field has not been mowed for a while. Since the performance is very good I hate to change to a shorter prop.

Trying to bend the 1/8 landing gear poses a problem so I want to know whether you have gear that will raise the model a half inch.

I have gone to tail dragger configuration.

Thanks,

Folts nose gear
by: Bdel

I'm a newbee, so I'm passing on advice give to me from my instructor-giving credit where it belongs. Anyway, the Folts nose gear can be adjusted to different heights/lengths. It looks somewhat like an upside U with a shaft. The wheel fits in the middle between the upside down U. I got mine from Tower Hobbies. Attaching the folts nose gear may take some adjustments to your plane.

Hope this may help.

Taller Kadet

G'day My oldest Kadet Senior is now about 20 years old and still going strong though no longer in my hands. I converted it to a tail dragger years ago using an aluminium preformed undercarriage. Initially I just screwed it to the original mounting for the wire UC.

Later I put in a ply plate and screwed it to that with three 1/4 x 20 nylon wing bolts so that in the event of a rough landing I would break the bolts but not rip the mount out. This setup helped several people to learn to land but we did go through a few packets of wing bolts.

Perhaps you could do something similar to get some extra height. I also used a set of very large very soft tyres to help smooth the landings for my students. Just going to a larger set of wheels may help?
