Hobbico Nexstar ARF

Instructor and I doing my first ever pre-flight.

I chose the Nexstar mostly because it's one of the best looking trainers on the market - it actually looks something like a real plane.

I also liked the removable training features included in the kit - NACA wing droops to help prevent tip stalls, and speed flaps to keep the plane flying at a slower pace.

Being my first time ever flying an RC plane, I liked how the speed flaps really slowed the plane down and gave me time to think, especially upon landing. After a couple of days the droops and flaps came off, and the plane really came to life.

I flew the plane a lot, and got to the point of flying inverted, confidently, for entire tanks of fuel. I was able to perform basic aerobatics such as rolls, loops, and cubans.

I also liked the easy-to-read instructions, quality hardware, and support from Hobbico/Hobby Services. I am thankful and proud to have trained on the Nexstar.

Autopilot
by: Eric

Doesn't the Nexstar have an autopilot?

Did you like the autopilot?

Also, some people tell me that they think it's not worth the money to have all the extra gadgets that come with the Nexstar because they are quickly outgrown.

Do you think it's worth it? Or would you get a different trainer plane if you had to do over?

not necessary
by: Denver

In my opinion all those extra gizmos on the Nexstar are not necessary.

Those features are soon outgrown. Spend that extra money for an airplane with better engine and radio like the H9 alpha.
