Futaba 7C 2.4Ghz

Should I get the Futaba 7C 2.4GHz 7-Channel transmitter with 4 S3152 Servos? Or should I get the Spektrum DX7 transmitter?

I am new to this hobby. I am thinking about buying a new Tx & Rx to fly with. I don't know anything about buying radio's at all. I have been looking at a DX7 and Futaba to buy.

My question is which is the better system?

I have been flying foam airplanes so far.

The Futaba 7C and Spektrum DX7 radios are pretty advanced for a beginner. But everyone is going to tell you Futaba is the better system.

I've been flying RC airplanes forever and have used both Futaba and Spektrum. I currently only use Spektrum and have a DX7 and am proud to say I have never had a problem.

It is just a little bit more user friendly and looks a lot better. Plus its cost effective. I am not to sure about the small details or programming capabilities of the Futaba, but that is easy to find out.

I'm going to stick to my guns and recommend the Spektrum, but the Futaba is great as well.

Both good radios.
by: Michael from Oz

G'day

I have three JR radios, one Spektrum DX7 and one Hitec Optic 6. At the present I have no Futaba radios.

Both the Futaba and Spektrum systems you mentioned are good radios. They are both capable of doing what you want and the differences between them are not great. Either would be a good radio.

So... I'd suggest you get something similar to whatever your club or teacher uses so that you can use buddy cord systems and so that you can ask questions when you need info. Both those radios are fairly complex for a beginner and you really don't need that level of sophistication but if you are prepared to spend the cash, either would be fine.

But frankly, the Optic 6 is cheaper, almost as useful AND the receivers are cheaper and easier to set up. Remember, each time you buy a new plane, you will need a new receiver and the Spektrum and Futaba receivers are dearer than the Hitec ones where I am.

But that said, they are both excellent radios.

Futaba vs DX7

I would like to thank you both for commenting. I agree with the both of you at the present time, either radio are pretty advanced for my skill level.

But I was just thinking ahead. I really don't want to purchase a RTF airplane every time.
