Fuel Filters for Nitro RC Engines

by Joe

Hi Matt

I have a question that you might be able to help me with. I have a Tower Pro .46 glow engine. I'm thinking of putting a fuel filter between the fuel tank and the high speed needle valve.

Is this the right place to put this and is it necessary to do this? Will it change the fuel flow?

probably not necessary
by: Matt

Hi Joe,

I've never used such a filter. I just rely on the filter on the fill tubing that goes into the gallon of fuel that I bring to the field. As long as the fuel going into the tank is clean, you should be OK.

They do make a filters that go between the tank and engine. If you decide to use one I don't foresee any problems with flow since this is what it's made for. Of course, it will restrict flow if debris builds up.

Hope this helps.

Happy flying!

Never a problem. Just keep it cleen assuming your fuel is dirty. Clean fuel? No filter needed.

Don't use the weed wacker oil
by: Matt

Hi Joe,

I wouldn't recommend using your weed wacker oil. You need to use 100% castor oil, which weed wacker oil is not.

Your local hobby story probably has some.

If not, you can order some online:

Sig Castor

Klotz from Tower Hobbies

Hope this helps,

Matt
