Fuel coming out seagul boomerang's refuel pipe

by Mark

Hi guy's,

This is all new to me!!

I have a seagul boomerang trainer with a 40 2-stroke. I have almost set my engine up. it starts and runs fine !BUT! when i throttle on to almost full revs fuel starts coming out my refueling hose!

Do I have to have a seal off bung or something?

and also when I thottle up fuel vapour comes out of the exhaust. is this normal?Or am I running to rich?

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,

Welcome to the hobby!

I am not sure how you have your refuel line set up, but yes, all lines going to the fuel tank must be plugged because the tank is pressurized by the exhaust. So if there is a way for the fuel to escape, it's going to leak out.

My suggestion is to use a Fuel Dot. That's what I use on my glow powered rc airplanes and they work great!

Yes, it is normal for slim to shoot out the exhaust. A glow engine uses the oil in the fuel for lubrication and for coolant. So it's a good thing to see smoke and oil flying out the exhaust, even though it sure is a mess to clean up.

Just be sure to do a pinch test to make sure it's not running to rich. But it's much better to run rich than lean. I few lean runs will ruin the engine. An engine too rich will burn more fuel, and if its really rich may result in a deadstick landing. But you won't fry the engine by running it too rich.

Does that help?

Good luck, and don't forget to show us a picture of your new Seagul Boomerang!
