What are the best Cheap Servos?

Low cost servos for your expendable planes...

See Recommended Servos!

It's not the best idea to use cheap servos in one of your favorite RC Airplanes that you've invested much time and money. To me, it's just not worth the risk of destroying your pride and joy just to save a few bucks.

However, it's really not necessary to drop good money for top-of-the line expensive servos to use in an expendable plane. You know, the type of plane that won't break your heart if it bites the dust.

I know, all of the planes in your hanger have a special place in your heart. But, it's probably OK to use cheap servos in expendable planes such as small foamies, combat planes, or your beater planes.

Common issues with Cheap Servos

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. You obviously can't expect a cheap RC servo to be the same quality of a Hitec servo when it's half the price! Here are some of the common issues experienced with some cheap RC servos.

The most common issue with cheap hobby servos are their ability to "center" properly. In other words, when you let off the sticks the control surface may not return to "perfect" neutral position. Obviously if your flying precision aerobatics you can't have this.

Some folks have experienced premature failure of the circuit boards, poor quality of gears, and "jittery" movement when using cheap RC servos.

Chances are, you will have little problems with cheap servos. The issues above are just more common with cheap RC servos, thus you are taking a risk.
