Use a needle valve extension through cowling by: Matt
Hi Michael,
If you look closely you will see that the high speed needle has a place where you can insert an small allen wrench or any type of stiff wire to extend the needle valve. There should be a small set screw to hold the extension in place.
I usually take a dremel tool and make a hole in the cowling for this extension to stick out. As long as the engine behaves, this works perfect.
Cowlings look really nice and add a lot of realism to the airplane. But the drawback is that the can be a royal pain in the butt if your engine is giving you problems.
If I am having a lot of trouble getting my engine to run correctly on any given day, I will just take the cowling off until I get her lined out.
But having an extension on the high speed neede to the stick through the cowling works fine for every day adjustment.
I would take a picture of one of mine for you but my wife is out of town and she has the camera!
But you can find a picture of such extension on this post from RC Groups.
Hope this helps.
I would love to see a picture of your bird when your finished!
