ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109GParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G, finally a powerful detailed scale
More Messerschmitt BF 109G's were manufactured than any other aircraft in history! The low wing all metal fighter first flew in 1935 and its design became the benchmark for WWII fighter planes. Taking down more allied planes than any other aircraft of the war, there's no denying that this bird was one of the greatest performing aircrafts of all time. It's a shame that it was in Hitler's arsenal... Warbird fanatics that love to build scale versions of such historic fighters have gone to great lengths spending months on end building detailed scale versions of this airplane. The ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G makes it possible for those of us who don't have the skill, desire, or patience for such a feat to own a detailed high performance bird, and at very reasonable price as well! Wow, the sound of that brushless motor singing on the landing is enough to give ya chills isn't it? This is by far the most powerful bird ParkZone has released so far. There's not a whole lot more to say about the performance of this RC airplane, I think the video pretty much speaks for itself! What's she got inside?
Both the PNP and BNF versions of the ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G come equipped with an E-Flite 30-Amp Pro Switch-mode BEC Brushless ESC. In order to swing the scale-like three-bladed propeller, ParkZone went with the relatively low Kv 15 size 720Kv brushless motor. The three-bladed prop requires more torque and less speed than a standard two-blade propeller. The 15 size 720Kv brushless outrunner was the perfect match. If you decide to go with a two-blade prop, ParkZone recommends a large diameter 12 x 12 electric propeller. The manual for the ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf 109G notes that the higher KV E-Flite BL15 840Kv Outrunner Motor that comes with the Apprentice is a drop in replacement for the stock motor if you prefer to use a smaller diameter two-bladed propeller for more speed in exchange for torque. ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G BNF of PNPThe ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G is available as a Bind and Fly(BNF) version or as a Plug and Play(PNP) version. Both versions come with a brushless motor, ESC, and all three servos already installed for you. The ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G BNF comes equipped with a Spektrum DSM2 full range AR500 receiver. A 4 to 5 channel DSM2 transmitter is all that is required to get this bad boy in the air. A 11.1V 3S 1800mAh Li-Po pack and 2-3 cell DC charger are included with the BNF version. If don't already have a Spread Spectrum transmitter, now is a good time to consider getting one. Bind and Fly planes are becoming more popular every day, which is honestly what helped me decide to get a Spektrum Transmitter instead of one of the other brands. I have a Spektrum DX6i and I'm really happy with it. Maybe you're not a huge fan of Spektrum or already have a perfectly fine 72Mhz system. If that's the case, all you have to do is install your existing receiver into the Plug and Play (PNP) version of the ParkZone Messerschmitt. You will also have to provide a 11.1V 3S 1800mAh Li-Po pack as the battery and charger is not included with the PNP version. The Fine DetailsThe details and texture of the ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G really is quite remarkable. Unless you get really close, you can't even tell this thing is made from Z-Foam™. From a distance it could pass for the real thing! In case you're not familiar, Z-Foam™ is a durable and lightweight foam that is very strong and easily repaired. Unlike most foams that melt with certain glues, you can actually use CA glue on Z-Foam™. I have found that Gorilla Glue
The authentic Lafutwaffe paint scheme is that of the BF 109 flown by Erich Hartman, AKA "The Black Devil", highest scoring fighter ace in world history. Out of good taste, the ParkZone Messerschmitt BF 109G comes with small Maltese cross for the tail insignia. If you really feel it necessary, a Swastika decal is available separately(PKZ4930).
The ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G truly is a beautiful RC airplane with many subtle details such as full panel line and hatch detail, a “Galland” type canopy, painted pilot figure, scale landing gear doors, molded exhaust stacks, gun ports, a port-side supercharger intake, and even a three-bladed prop with a spiral painted spinner. It's pretty darn realistic looking, especially considering it's made from foam! Possible UpgradesThe ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G comes with molded servo pockets in the wings for housing the servos if you decide to add flaps. Two additional servos (PKZ1081), flap pushrod set (PKZ4921), and a Y-harness (PKZ1063) can be purchased separately for installing operational flaps for nice and slow landings. The operational flaps require an additional channel on your transmitter, so you will have to have at least a 5-channel transmitter if you want to add flaps to your new ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G. I'm not sure if I would consider it an "upgrade", but keep in mind there is a 2-blade spinner available if you wish to use a 12 x 12 2-blade propeller. Replacement PartsThere is a full line of replacement parts available for the ParkZone Messerschmitt Bf-109G. Below is a list of parts that can be purchased separately.
